Marina in new light, literally…

Hailing from Chennai, one of the first queries i get to hear from my non-Chennai buddies is about the Marina beach. After all, it is the longest beach in India.The tag aside, my response has always been, screw Marina. Its boring. Go to Elliot’s instead. The Marina is rather crowded, while the elliot’s is a lot more manageable. The evening of 19 th Jan ’17 was no different. If anything, it was more crowded than usual. But this one, i dint mind.

The atmosphere was electric. The vibe from the passers-vibe and the ones weilding the mics were infectious. You cannot help but be pulled in. The crowd and the volunteers, ever so helpful. Make no mistake. This is no sunburn or a Bryan Adamns concert. This, is a protest. A protest that will ensure that the successive generation will still see an important festival in person rather than as a memoriam. This, is to ensure that the cultural ide tity of a people isnt diluted or worse. This, is for jallikattu…
